2 Chinese, 1 Filipino abducted in Basilan

MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATE) Some 30 armed men abducted two Chinese nationals and a Filipino in Basilan province past midnight Tuesday, the provincial police director said.

Senior Superintendent Abubakar Tulawi identified the three victims as Michael Tan, 27, Oscar Lu, 51, and Mark Singson, all employees of a plywood factory in Maluso town. more

Bomb-making components seized in Tawi-Tawi

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities seized several bomb-making components in a warehouse in Tawi-Tawi province Monday morning, the military said on Tuesday.

Major David Hontiveros, spokesman of the Western Mindanao Command, said his men confiscated 3,700 blasting caps, 87 meters of detonation cord, and seven big boxes containing cyanide at a warehouse in the village of Lamion, Bongao town before 10 a.m. Monday. more
